ok, I went out to wal-mart today to grab some turtle food, and decided I'd see if I could find anything to replace that fugly orb that the sorcerer dragon is holding.
I stopped off in the toy aisle to check there. No marbles or balls, but I did find two LOTR figures. I also picked up two small cans of model spray paint. black pearl, and purple metal flake.
I then went to the craft section, and picked up a pack of beads. the two I'm considering using are not round, but slightly oddly shaped faceted red beads. they're very deep and metallic and swirly, and might look really cool:
I've painted the original orb with a few coats of the purple metal flake stuff, which is slightly shimmery (but not as shimmery as its name implies). The black pearl paint just wasn't shiny enough for me to use. I then painted gold and bronze swirls on it:
and the dragon holding it:
I think the painted orb is a bit too close to the dragon's actual colors. I'm not sure if I like it yet. I'm going to leave him holding it for a while to be sure before I go ahead and cut the peg off.

I got Lurtz, and the Isengard Orc. The Lurtz figure is great, though one flaw..he has "arrow launching action"...but no arrow. just a bow.
I borrowed an arrow from the moria orc archer I got a few weeks ago. I'm never going to use the action feature, but I'd still like him to have at least one arrow in his otherwise empty quiver.

My boys wanted their own dragons after seeing mine so while picking theirs up; I too went looking for crystals to use.
Funny thing is my wife kept referring to it all this morning as "dragon hunting". [img]smile.gif[/img]

your repaint definately looks cool, but yeah, too close to the original colours
as for mishapen stuff, I think it's better! I know it's probably got significance in the story, but, it would look like the Dragon just came out of a cave where he found a crystal (or some shit, Im not goo at this whole "good story" thing!) [img]wink.gif[/img]
man, at first I thought that Dragon was kinda lackluster, but it's growing on me! Seeing them in person changed my views on alll of 'em!
